State board looks to ban sale, use of synthetic marijuana

 The Nevada Board of Pharmacy elected Thursday to prepare a guideline that would certainly prohibit statewide the sale or use five synthetic marijuana chemicals that the Medicine Enforcement Management means to temporarily forbid nationally.


The board activity was triggered by worries that were brought to it in September by Northern Nevada law enforcement authorities, including Douglas Region District Attorney Mark Jackson.

Jackson told the board that phony pot, which is marketed as natural incense sold at smoke stores and online, is far stronger than THC, the active component in marijuana.

The earliest the board could vote on the suggested final law would certainly be at its conference in very early March, said Jeri Walter, the board's organizer.
